Timepieces Restored with
Quiet Precision
Wall clocks, watch crystals, and movement pivots — each piece considered on its own terms. Bumi brings steady, unhurried attention to work that rewards it.
What We Do
Three Services, Handled Well
Each service is carried out in the workshop by hand, with appropriate tools and steady attention. No shortcuts, no guesswork.
Wall Clock Restoration
Considered restoration of wall clocks across regulator, Vienna, and traditional pendulum varieties — movement servicing, case and dial work, and full regulation on reassembly.
- Suspension spring and pendulum attention
- Timber and glass case repair where needed
- Original dial finish preserved where feasible
- 4–10 week service window
Crystal Polishing
Polishing of scratched acrylic and mineral crystals using graduated compounds on appropriate tools. Heat managed throughout to avoid distortion. Replacement discussed where polishing cannot fully restore clarity.
- Progressive compound grades
- Acrylic and mineral crystal work
- Honest assessment before proceeding
- 1–2 working day turnaround
Pivot Polishing & Burnishing
Restoration of worn pivots through careful polishing and burnishing under magnification, maintaining correct geometry and surface finish. Combined with a wider movement check where appropriate.
- Work under magnification throughout
- Geometry and finish maintained
- Staff or arbor replacement discussed if needed
- 2–4 week lead time
Why Bumi
What Sets the Workshop Apart
A small workshop run on honest principles. The work speaks more than the marketing does.
Assessed Individually
Every piece is looked at on its own merits. A condition report is discussed before any work begins so there are no surprises.
Appropriate Tools for the Task
Work is carried out with tools suited to each movement type. Pivot work happens under magnification. Polish compounds are graduated by hand.
Honest Lead Times
Service windows are stated clearly and not compressed to win business. A clock restored in four weeks is preferable to one rushed in two.
Original Character Kept
Dial finishes, case patina, and period-appropriate parts are preserved wherever the piece warrants it. Restoration, not conversion.
Clear Communication
Updates at each stage. If the scope of work changes, you are consulted before anything proceeds. No decisions made without your agreement.
